Chandigarh, 02.07.2025: The Chief Secretary Chandigarh UT, Sh. Rajiv Kumar today chaired a meeting to review Aadhaar progress with all the department heads of Chandigarh Administration and the Unique Identification Authority of India at the UT Secretariat. Emphasizing the importance of achieving 100% Aadhaar saturation across Chandigarh UT, all the departments including banks and school education were directed to activate all Aadhaar enrollment kits at the earliest and ensure optimal utilization of available resources.

The Chief Secretary expressed concern over the pendency of Mandatory Biometric Update, which are to be carried out on attaining the age of 5 and 15 and directed that Camps be organized in all government and private schools for this purpose. He also emphasized on popularization of Aadhaar related services. Awareness campaign by the School Education Department needs to be carried out to encourage parents and guardians for Mandatory Biometric Update of their children.

He further directed to deploy Aadhaar kits at immunization centers to cover Aadhaar enrolment of 0-5 age group. The Health Department and the Department of WCD to facilitate Aadhaar enrollment for children under five years, ensuring their complete coverage.

During the meeting, Commodore (IN) Dhiraj Sareen, DDG, UIDAI RO, Chandigarh highlighted the latest amendments in Aadhaar SWIK (Social, Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) rules wherein now private entities such as hotels, hospitals, travel agencies can also use Aadhaar based authentication subject to approval by the concerned department of the UT. Dedicated portal has been developed to process these applications.

The Chief Secretary also directed all the departments of Chandigarh UT to ensure Aadhaar based authentication of beneficiaries for various services offered at E-Sampark Centers and other offices. He directed all departments to monitor attendance of all employees on regular basis and ensure that the salary of the employees is linked to their Aadhaar enabled Face authentication attendance.
