Chandigarh: The Governor Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh V.P. Singh Badnore inaugurated the training centre for General Duty Assistant Course (GDA) course under Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana Scheme today at Chandigarh Hospice, Sector-43, Chandigarh. The Chandigarh Hospice has been accredited and affiliated as training Centre for GDA Course under Chandigarh Skill Development Mission, under the aegis of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
The aim of the project is to train the youth in the field of health care. This will ultimately benefit them by way of providing employment to the trainees and provide skilled professionals to take care of sick, needy and elderly patients in the society. Around 100 candidates will be trained as Health Care Assistants in a period of one year. This training will be provided free of cost to the trainees under the scheme PMKVY. The Administrator took a round of the patient wards, wherein he interacted with the patients, their relatives, attendants and also distributed gifts among them.
Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore also inaugurated the Laser pain relief & Physiotherapy centre at Chandigarh Hospice, which is a Palliative Care unit looking after advanced cancer patients with immense pain and other distressing symptoms. The Hospice has initiated a new project under its banner “Laser Pain Relief and Physiotherapy Centre” for the patients with chronic pain. This centre includes LASER Therapy and other physical therapies.
LASER Therapy uses a process called Photobiomodulation wherein Photons enter the tissue and interact with Cytochrome C Complex within Mitochondria. The interaction triggers a biological cascade of events that leads to an increase cellular metabolism and a decrease in both pain and inflammation. Unlike medications, laser therapy reduces pain without undesirable side effects. It has very quick results as compared to other modalities.
This LASER therapy is also beneficial for the senior citizens who are residing in the Senior Citizen Home adjacent to Hospice. It can be used for all Musculoskeletal pain, Shoulder pain, Cervical pain, Knee pain, Back pain, Tennis elbow etc. The Laser machines set up at centre meet international standards and are being used all over the world. The project has been supported by Diageo and implemented by Lab India and Gramodaya Samajik Sansthan.
