The 39th Annual National Workshop on Clinical Pharmacology-Day 4
The 39th Annual National Workshop on Clinical Pharmacology, organised by Clinical Pharmacology Unit, Dept of Pharmacology, PGIMER, Chandigarh entered its fourth day today. The scientific sessions for the day began with a session on Pharmacoeconomic analysis for clinical decision making and guideline development taken by Prof. Lekha Saha, Professor, Dept. of Pharmacology, PGIMER. In her talk, Prof. Saha illustrated the different types of Pharmacoeconomic studies. Dr. Pawan Singh, from Biocon Biologics, held a talk on Clinical development of Biosimilars. He shared his knowledge and experience in the field of biologics as therapeutic agents and the process of evaluation and approval of biosimilars. A hands-on session with Clinical Pharmacokinetic exercises was conducted by Dr. Rachna, from AIIMS, Bathinda. Dr. Kamal Kishore from Dept. Of Biostatistics, PGIMER enlightened the gathering about the Fundamentals of Biostatistics. His talk included the principles of planning and execution of statistical analysis. An informative session on Antimicrobial Stewardship was steered by Prof. Nusrat Shafiq and Dr. Rachna along with discussion of case studies. A lively and interactive discussion guided by Prof. Ashish Goel, Head, Dept of Medicine, AIMS Mohali was taken on Ethical concerns in Clinical Research. His talk encompassed the history of research ethics, informed consent, process of ethical review and ethics of medical publishing.
An online session on Regulatory Processes in New Drug Development was taken by Dr. G. Jagadeesh, former senior expert pharmacologist from FDA. In his talk he shared the regulatory perspectives of novel drug development.
