Surinder Verma Condems FIR Against Journalist on UIDAI Story.

Surinder Verma  from National Media Confederation Panjab and Chandigarh condemed and said that, it was another attack on freedom of press and 4th pillar of democracy. N M C. Expressed its solidarity with Chandigarh press club and join protest on the action of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for lodging an FIR against Tribune reporter over story on Aadhar data breach.   

Instead of taking action against people, who were involved in data breach, the Government Agency preferred to lodge FIR against reporter, who exposes the loopholes in the system.   

In an act of ‘Shoot the messenger’, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) had filed an FIR against the reporter of The Tribune for an article on how anonymous users accessed Aadhaar details and sold it for a fee.   Mr. Jaswant Singh Rana President and Barinder Rawat, Secretary General of the Club, said,  Chandigarh Press Club will also hold protest march/session on freedom of press on January 8 (Monday) at 12 noon at Chandigarh Press Club, Sector 27.
