St Anne’s Convent School, Sector 32, Chandigarh, organised Bishop Gilbert Rego Memoiral Inter-school IT Carnival, in memory of late Bishop Rt. Rev Gilbert Rego, a true champion, vibrant pastor and a fatherly figure. One of his land- mark contributions was establishing the school.
The occasion was graced by Most Rev Dr Ignatius L Mascarenhas, Bishop of Simla-Chandigarh Diocese. School manager Father Ambrose D’Souza and Principal Sister Siji Issac honoured the chief guest. Thereafter, the programme began with the lamp, invocation of the Almighty with a prayer dance, welcome song followed by soulful introduction to late Bishop Rt. Rev Gilbert B Rego and a motivational speech by Most Rev Dr Ignatius L Mascarenhas.
The event witnessed the participation from 21 schools of the tricity partaking with the unsurpassed spirit in the competitions like Cyber Design MS Paint Logo Design competition and Magazine cover competition, Cyber Media- Presentation competition and Game Designing competition, Cyber Promo- Web Designing Competition and a Cyber quiz.
The theme was based on UN Sustainable Development Goal 4- QUALITY EDUCATION, including the sub themes for various competitions like ‘Empowering Girls through Quality Education: Breaking Barriers’, ‘Innovation in Learning: Digital Education’s, ‘Quality Education in the Digital Age: Opportunities and Challenges’ and ‘Unlocking Potential: The Power of Quality Education etc.
Judges from renowned educational institutions were invited to select the best talent. School manager Father Ambrose motivated the students by emphasising the importance of Information Technology in today’s world and felicitated the judges with mementos and winners of competitions with prizes. Carmel Convent School (Chandigarh) won the runners-up trophy while St. Anne’s Convent School, (Chandigarh) won the overall trophy.
