Sh. T.C. Nautiyal, IFS, Inaugurates Workshop on E-Waste Management
Chandigarh, 14th October 2024: The Climate Change Cell of the Department of Environment, Chandigarh, in partnership with the Association of Professional Social Workers and Development Practitioners (APSWDP) and the Global Youth Federation, launched a two-day online international workshop on e-Waste Management to mark International E-Waste Day. This event, held from 14th to 15th October, brings together experts from around the world to address the growing e-waste crisis and advocate for sustainable practices.
Sh. T.C. Nautiyal, IFS, honored the opening day as Chief Guest, where he emphasized the urgent need for sustainable e-waste management to safeguard the environment and public health. His keynote address underscored the responsibility of all stakeholders to adopt eco-friendly practices.
Dr. Rupali Jandrotia, representing the Climate Change Cell, introduced the workshop with an overview of the global e-waste challenge.
The inaugural session featured Dr. Sumit Arora, President of APSWDP, who delivered an engaging lecture on the social and developmental impacts of e-waste.
Ms. Karishma Chhabra, Director of Strategic Innovation at RBH E-Waste Recycle Hub Pvt. Ltd., Delhi, shared insights into innovative recycling solutions.
Concluding the day’s presentations, Dr. Richa Rastogi Thakur, Assistant Professor at Panjab University’s Centre for Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, shared her research on nanotechnology’s potential to provide sustainable solutions to e-waste issues.
The workshop will continue on its second day, featuring a range of discussions and expert-led sessions focused on practical approaches to e-waste management, encouraging a collaborative approach to this global challenge.
