Scintillating Guitar by Manik Kohli to mark 306th Monthly baithak programe
The music lovers of city beautiful were treated with a scintillating guitar recital by Young and talented Manik Kohli on the occasion of the 306th Monthly Baithak Programme organized by Pracheen Kala Kendra here today. M.L. Koser Indoor Auditorium reverberated in an ebb and flow with the melodious strains and got applause of the audience. He kept the audience enthralled by the sheer and clean beauty of his skillful fingers racing the length of guitar.
Harvard world record holder and International Book of Records holder Manik started his career at the age of 4 with the blessings of his father Mr. Sanjeev Kohli (who is a famous guitar player in the tricity). Manik stepped into music as a drummer. From the early days of his childhood, he has won many acclaimed titles at the local and national level. Manik has done his graduation from Ram Jas College, Delhi University, Delhi and post graduation from Punjab University, Chandigarh. Manik has achieved many achievements at a young age.
The programe commenced with Raag Yaman by Manik . After the melodious notes of Alaap, Jod Alaap and Jod Jhala, this young artist mesmerized everyone with his vilambit and drut gats in Teen Taal. It was followed by some compositions in Raga Charukeshi . Manik concluded the program with a dhun composed in Raga Bhairavi and received applause. He was accompanied on tabla by Chandigarh’s renowned tabla exponent Dr. Mahendra Prasad Verma, who hails from the holy city of Varanasi and honed his tabla skills as a favorite disciple of Pandit Chhote Lal Mishra ji, a well-known tabla Virtuoso of the Banaras Gharana. Kendra’s Secretary Shri . Sajal Koser and Registrar Dr. Shobha Koser felicitated the artists.
