Chandigarh 2nd July 2018 :Bharatiya Janata Party Chandigarh State President Sanjay Tandon Chaired the meeting of Standing Committee of the Administrator’s Advisory Council on Traffic Management at Children Traffic Park, Sec-23, Chd.ShashankAnand SSP Traffic & Security Chd and Secretary of this committee, Justice (Retd) Ms. Navita Singh, Harvilas Jindal, Jagjit Singh Kang former President ShiromaniAkali Dal Chd, VipinPubby former Resident Editor Indian Express and Baljinder Singh President Foswac were also present in this meeting.
Before the start of the meeting Tandon and other members of the Council visited the Social Media room of Traffic Police Chd from where all messages etc related to traffic awareness are forwarded to the residents. A presentation was shown by member of two wheeler company which in collaboration with traffic police organize regular safety riding activities for every age group. Further a presentation was given by ShashankAnand informing different types of comparative data on road accidents, challans issued, motor vehicles impounded in last few years. He also informed about the Road Safety Week organised for children during their vacations in schools and briefed the committee that a meeting of Traffic Police Officers from Tricity was held on 13th June, wherein it was decided to work in harmony for providing a safe and caring stay for residents of tricity. A few points which were of concern such as three wheelers plying in the city without valid permits and without proper registration to be taken care of. It was informed that department is launching an App to be used for public to send the pictures of person violating the rules. On this, Sanjay Tandonsuggested that some limited offence list should be mentioned in the App so as the same is not misused by anyone. It was further briefed by SSP Traffic/Secretary of this committee that Hon’ble Governor Punjab and Administrator UT called a meeting of Secretaries of all Committees and mentioned there that the best presentation given in Advisory Council meeting was given by Traffic Management Committee. Sanjay Tandon also asked Shashank that their department should send a reminder to the Governor regarding the request made for the budgetary requirement especially for replacing the old CCTV’s by new ones including night vision cameras. Further it was agreed that a lot of hard work had been put by the department in solving the noise pollution caused by modified silencers, but little more efforts need to be put in to absolutely stop this problem. Tandon asked from the members of the committee to give further suggestions to make this city a Honk Free City, and for this we need to bring awareness starting from Hospitals, Schools, Colleges etc. Tandon also asked the Secretary to make arrangements to start the initial suggestion of making one of the roads connecting Chd with Mohali one way for some time in the morning and evening hours and keep 30th July as the target date for implementing the same.
During the end of the meeting he met withBhupinder Singh Head Constable in traffic police and was impressed to hear him singing his own composed punjabi SONG to make the general public aware for not using the Horn while driving, and also mentioning in the song the fine that will be imposed, which will further help in converting Chd into a First Honk Free City
