Rs 448 crore is being disbursed to 25,12,535 beneficiaries per month under all social pension schemes in the state.

Chandigarh, July 26 – Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Krishan Kumar said that a sum of about Rs 448 crore is being disbursed to 25,12,535 beneficiaries per month under all social pension schemes in the state. In this direction, all pensions would be increased from Rs 1,800 to Rs 2,000 per month from November 1, 2018 onwards, as promised by the present State Government.
Mr. Krishan Kumar was addressing a press conference regarding the achievements of the present State Government, here today. He said that the budget of the department has been increased from Rs 4,912 crore to Rs 6,077 crore in 2018-19.
He said that during the tenure of 45 months, the present State Government has worked in consonance with the vision of the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal to provide all type of social pensions through online and banking system thus putting a check on corruption.
He said that from November 2014 to June 2018, Rs 9,003 crore was disbursed to total 15,13,602 beneficiaries under Old Age Samman Allowance, Rs 3907.94 crore to 6,73,629 beneficiaries under the pension scheme for Widows and Destitute Women pension and Rs 652.08 crore to 1,53,789 beneficiaries under Disability Pension. Similarly, Rs 488 crore has been provided to 1,27,845 beneficiaries under Financial Assistance to Orphan Children. Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided to a child until he or she attains the age of 21 years. He said that assistance of Rs 188 crore was provided to 33,907 beneficiaries under Ladli Samajik Suraksha Bhatta Yojana whereas during this period, assistance of Rs 15,24,000 has been provided to 27 beneficiaries under Dwarf Allowance and Rs 12,47,000 to 26 beneficiaries under Eunuchs Allowance.
The Minister said that financial assistance of Rs 1,200 per month is being given to disabled children who are unable to go to school up to the age of 18 years which would be increased to Rs 1,400 per month from November 1, 2018. As many as 9,701 beneficiaries have so far been provided Rs 26.97 crore under this scheme. He said that under Scholarship Scheme for Students with Disabilities, students with 40 per cent or more disability are being provided Rs 400 to Rs 1,000 per month class wise. During 2018-19, budget provision of Rs 1.55 crore has been made, he added.
He said that the Central Government had started ‘Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan’ under which special provision of ramps and wheel chairs have been made for facilitating the entry of disabled persons in all government buildings. A sum of Rs 553.71 lakh has been approved for this. He said that a target has been set to make government buildings accessible to disabled persons in 10 districts namely Panchkula, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Hisar and Rewari.
The Minister said that on the initiative of Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, it has been decided to organise special camps in all parliamentary constituencies to distribute artificial limbs and accessories to disabled persons with the assistance of Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO). Such special camps have been organised in Faridabad, Sonipat, Kurukshetra and Karnal parliamentary constituencies and artificial limbs and accessories were distributed to 6,606 beneficiaries. Such camp would soon be organised in Ambala Parliamentary Constituency. He said that as a result of the efforts of the Union minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Krishan Pal Gurjar, ALIMCO would set up its second unit in Tigaon city of Faridabad for which five acres of land has been made available by the State Government and the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal had recently laid its foundation stone.
He said that special identity cards were being given to disabled persons. As many as 12,000 disabled persons have so far been registered for special ID cards, of which such cards have been issued to more than 10,000 beneficiaries.
