Report on World Population Day

The NSS Wing of Post Graduate government college for Girls, sector 42, Chandigarh organised a poster and slogan writing competition on the theme Population Growth and its impacts to mark World Population Day which is observed on 11th July every year. The day is celebrated every year to raise awareness about global population issues, their impact on development, environment, and the need for sustainable living.
Various activities such as Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competitions were organized to encourage students to express their views creatively. The participants highlighted themes like family planning, gender equality, health, and the importance of responsible choices in population control.
The event aimed to sensitize students and society at large about the challenges of overpopulation and to inspire them to contribute towards creating a balanced and sustainable future. In slogan writing competition Disha of BA II year and Khushboo of BA III year secured 1st and 2nd position respectively. Whereas, Deepika of BA III year secured 1st and Rekha Maurya secured 2nd position in poster making competition. The event was coordinated by NSS In charge, Dr. Tejinder Kaur and NSS programme officer Dr. Rachana Rana.
The Principal Prof (Dr.) Anita Kaushal congratulated all winners and acknowledge their efforts by giving certificates of participation. She highlighted the importance of population control and significance of observing World Population Day. Principal madam also appreciated the efforts of the NSS team and participants, stressing that collective responsibility and awareness are key to addressing population-related concerns.
