PU Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Concludes

Panjab University NSS Department, volunteers  of its affiliated colleges in
Punjab and Chandigarh as per-directions of the Ministry of Human Resource
Development worked in their adopted villages for 100 hours as individuals and in
teams from 1 May, 2018 to 31 July, 2018.
Around 300 Volunteers with 15 Programme Officers (Nodal Officers) were
registered from PU. 2700 Volunteers and 120 Programme Officers were registered from
the colleges affiliated to Panjab University.
The Interns made the people aware about sanitation related issues and
trigger a change in sanitation related behaviour. They organised awareness campaigns
like hand washing, health and hygiene awareness camps, performed “Nukkad Nataks”
around swachhata, conducted school level rallies on various social issues in Khuda
lahora, Khuda jassu, Khuda ali sher and Dhanas. They made wall paintings in public
offices on the theme of Swachhata & Swachhata related movies were also screened in
public places. They with the help of Sarpanches of the villages kept dustbins,
created awareness about waste collection, segregation, disposal and waste free
environment. The interns also worked in their hometowns like Kinnaur, Kullu, Shimla
and Haryana.
The programme was as a part of “Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Programme”
of MHRD and Swachh Bharat Mission, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
