17 students represented Panjab University (PU) at the Summer School program hosted by the Nottingham Trent University, UK. The students were from three departments of the university i.e. University Institute of Legal Studies, University Institute of Applied Management Sciences and the Center for Human Rights and Duties. The students interacted with the Vice Chancellor and shared their experiences through presentations before a committee of faculty comprising Prof. Deepti Gupta, Dean International Students (DIS), Dr. Namita, Prof. Swarnjit, Dr. Monica and Dr. Shruti Bedi. The courses attended by the students were on International Human Rights, Society and People in Crisis and Transformational Role of Leadership in Society.
The course on International Human Rights covered different aspects of the rights and violations in the world. The Society and People in Crisis course dealt with aspects of criminology and the psychology of criminals and people. The Leadership course benefitted the students immensely as it taught them different connotations of leading in crisis situations.
The students who have recently returned from an extremely successful trip were happy about their experience and the knowledge that they gained from this exchange. The Nottingham Trent University is one of the prime universities which offers many such programs to the students and faculty of PU and vice versa. The DIS office in PU is constantly engaged in the facilitation of such programs.
