Prof Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh today inaugurated DST-FIST sponsored 5-axis simultaneous CNC machine facility at the Mechanical Engineering Department UIET Panjab University Chandigarh. This machine was procured under the DST-FIST (Level-1) grant for Rs 123-00 Lacs which was sanctioned to the department in 2019. This machine will be used for design and fabrication of metal implants that will serve the medical industry for conducting cranial implant surgeries. The students across various disciples will get trained on this machine and as part of the new NEP curriculum, courses based on this machine will also be introduced
