Gurdaspur, January 8, 2024
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi engaged with beneficiaries in five states today as part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a significant occasion demonstrating the tangible impact of government initiatives on citizens’ lives across India. The virtual interaction witnessed enthusiastic beneficiaries participating.
From Gurdaspur, Gurbinder Singh Bajwa, a recipient of the Custom Hiring Centre in Group scheme, expressed gratitude for the significant benefits received. The scheme, aimed at supporting farmers, granted Gurbinder a subsidy of 16.0 lakhs on the total project cost of 25.0 lakhs.
During the conversation with Gurbinder, Prime Minister Modi inquired about the local area and discussed the impact of government schemes on agriculture.
Bajwa shared that the financial aid enabled him to invest in agricultural machinery, leading to a substantial increase in his annual income. The impact of this support extended beyond his family, benefiting the entire village community. Custom hiring of agricultural machinery within a radius of 30-35 km became accessible to small farmers, resulting in various positive outcomes for the village.
Bajwa also highlighted the positive environmental impact, with a reduction in stubble burning due to improved equipment. Prime Minister Modi expressed satisfaction at the positive outcomes and emphasized the government’s commitment to the prosperity and well-being of farmers.
The event in Gurdaspur was not merely a platform for interaction but also a hub for various Government of India organizations offering on-the-spot assistance. The services included support for Aadhaar applications, Ujjwala scheme applications, and the dissemination of information on government schemes. Punjab National Bank took the lead in facilitating these services through banking channels.
Since its launch on November 15, 2023, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra continues to foster direct interactions between the Prime Minister and beneficiaries nationwide, ensuring the saturation of flagship government schemes for timely benefits.
