Another Milestone for PGIMER Padma Shri Prof. Digambar Behera invited for the prestigious AIIMS Silver Jubilee Oration at AIIMS New Delhi scheduled tomorrow
Chandigarh : 24 September : Another Milestone for PGIMER as Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Digambar Behera, Department of Pulmonary Medicine, PGIMER has been invited for the prestigious AIIMS Silver Jubilee Oration scheduled tomorrow at i.e. 25th September, 2020 at 11 am at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Prof. Behera has been invited to speak on ‘Issues of chronic respiratory diseases in India and solutions.’
This silver jubilee oration is a part of the 65th AIIMS Foundation Day celebrations being inaugurated by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Hon’ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India and President, AIIMS, New Delhi and being graced by Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Hon’ble Health Minister of State of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India as the Guest of Honor.
An expert of pulmonary medicine, Prof. Behera did his MD from the PGI in 1981. He had served as the Dean (Research) and the Head of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine at the PGI.
A member of several international and national professional bodies, Prof Behera is specialised in treating lung cancer. He is known as a pioneer of lung cancer chemotherapy in the region.
He is a fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, the American College of Chest Physicians and the Asia Pacific Society of Respirology. He has 550 research papers and nine books to his credit.
Dr Behera has won seven international awards, including the Kael Styblo Prize for Public Health, besides 28 national awards.
He remained on the editorial board of various scientific journals, including the Indian Journal of Tuberculosis and the Indian Journal of Chest Diseases and Allied Sciences.
In view of the covid 19 pandemic and regulations of the Government of India, physical attendance will be restricted to AIIMS faculty, staff and students while the event will be live-webcast on the AIIMS website at www.aiims.edu
