The Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies in collaboration with the Panjab University Alumni Association and Social Substance organized the online screening of the original videos of Mahatma Gandhi and panel discussion via Cisco WebEx at 10:00 am onwards. While welcoming the audience and other invited members of PU Alumni Association, the Chairperson of the Department Dr. Manish Sharma highlighted that from the original videos of Gandhi ji one can see how practically he managed his day to day life and what others can learn from him, the concept of simplicity, non-violence and equal attention to all irrespective of any discrimination and especially towards the end points of his life where he stressed upon the upliftment of down trodden. After the screening of the original videos, the panel discussion was opened up where the experts include the Faculty members of the Department and Prof. R. K. Gupta from Kaithal who had done research on Gita according to Gandhi explained in details the different concepts related to the original videos and the philosophy of Gandhi.
In the end Dr. Arun proposed vote of thanks to all. Dr Manish also informed the members that tomorrow at 09am onwards to 10:30 am the department would be conducting the Interfaith event where the people from different religions will discuss about Peace Within, Peace Without via Zoom link (http://us02web.zoom.us/j/6913557459) and at 12 Noon onwards will be conducting the online Lecture of Professor Suresh Misra and Professor N. K. Ambasht will be the chief guest and honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Raj Kumar will preside. In this function the award of the best maali and awards of the different events organized by the department will be declared via Cisco Webex in collaboration with the PU Alumni Association.
