PGIMER’s Endocrinologist Dr. Sanjay Kumar Bhadada, elected as President of Endocrine Society of India for year 2023
Dr. Sanjay Kumar Bhadada, Prof & Head, Department of Endocrinology, PGIMER has been elected as President of the prestigious Endocrine Society of India for year 2023, a national society of endocrinologists with more than 1500 life members .
Dr. Bhadada did his MBBS from RNT Medical College Udaipur in 1993 and did his MD in Internal Medicine in 1996 from the same institute. He joined for DM course in Endocrinology at IMS BHU, Varanasi which he completed in 2001. His other qualifications include MD, DM (Endocrinology), FICP, FRCPI, MNAMS.
Dr. Bhadada worked as Assistant Professor (Endocrinology) at Government Medical College Chandigarh from 2001-2002 and later he joined PGIMER, Chandigarh in 2002 as Assistant Professor in the Department of Endocrinology and presently he is Professor & Head, Deptt. of Endocrinology, PGIMER. His Area of Interest Metabolic Bone Disorders and Diabetes.
Dr. Bhadada is a member of various academic bodies like API, ESI, RSSDI, ISBMR, Indian Menopausal Society and Indian Thyroid Society. He is the Secretary of Indian Society for Bone and Mineral Research. He is a Founder Secretary of Punjab and Chandigarh chapter of RSSDI.
Actively involved in Teaching & Research, Dr Bhadada is a recipient of Young Investigator Award for year 2005 from Indian Society of Bone and Mineral Research, India. He has been reviewer for many national and international journals. He received FICP and MNAMS and prestigious P. N. shah memorial oration in 2010.
Published more than 160 publications in high impact factor journals, Dr Bhadada is also a recipient of M N Sen Oration award ( ICMR ,2013) & PN Shah & Subash Mukherjee Oration (Endocrine Society of India, 2010 &2016) & Prof. Survir Singh Visiting professorship (Association of Physicians of India, 2011)
The members of the Endocrine Society work for education of patients and doctors who deal with various endocrine disorders like diabetes, thyroid disorders, obesity, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disorders.
In sync with the theme of the Society for the year 2023 “Research and Collaboration,” the Society has planned to collaborate with other national and international societies working in field of Diabetes and Endocrine disorders.
Dr.Soham Mukherjee, Assistant Professor in Department of Endocrinology, PGIMER won the Dr. Anil R. Sheth award at ESICON 2022 held at Jaipur for his seminal work on bone health in type 1 Diabetes.
