PGIMER Prof. R K Ratho honoured with prestigious Fellowship of National Academy of Medical Sciences
Prof R K Ratho, Head, Department of Virology, PGIMER has been honoured with fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) in the 60th convocation of the Academy on 7th August, 2021 at New Delhi.
The award of prestigious Fellowship of the academy is considered as an honour bestowed on him to acknowledge his academic excellence and professional achievements towards establishing various National Centres in the Department of Virology i.e. (A) Apex Referral Laboratory for the advanced diagnosis of Dengue, JE & Chikungunya under NVBDCP (B) National Influenza like illness network centre (ILI) under NCDC (C) WHO National Measles and Rubella Laboratory (D) Regional Virus Research & Diagnostic Laboratory under Dept of Health Research/ICMR to deal with high risk viral pathogens of National importance including SARS-CoV2, Nipah, H1N1, Zika and CCHF etc.
Recently he has been also awarded with Influenza Foundation of India oration, Dr SC Agarwal oration and Fellow of European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Disease, Switzerland.
