Key Safety Do’s and Don’ts for a Safe Diwali:

Clothing Safety: Avoid synthetic or loose clothing when handling diyas, candles, or firecrackers to reduce the risk of burns.
Maintain Distance: Always stand at arm’s length while lighting fireworks to ensure safety.
Eco-Sensitive Celebrations: Opt for environmentally safe “green crackers” and adhere to local time restrictions.
Disposal of Crackers: Dispose of used crackers in a bucket of sand or water to prevent injuries.
Protective Footwear: Wear closed shoes while lighting firecrackers to safeguard against foot injuries.
Avoid Dangerous Fireworks Handling : Never attempt to re-light or pick up a failed firecracker, as this can lead to severe injuries.
First Aid for Burns: For minor burns, rinse the area with cool water until the burning sensation subsides and avoid applying unapproved substances.
Emergency Fire Response: If clothing catches fire, utilize the “Stop, Drop, and Roll” technique, or use a thick blanket to extinguish flames.
Eye Injury Protocol : In the event of an eye injury, do not rub the eye; instead, wash it gently with clean water and seek immediate consultation with an eye specialist.
Fire Safety Arrangements: Keep a bucket of water or fire extinguisher nearby when using candles or fireworks.

PGIMER Chandigarh wishes everyone a happy and safe Diwali.
