PGIMER Chandigarh and Lions Club Central Organize Poster Making Competition at Manav Mangal Smart School, Mohali to Mark Eye Donation Awareness Fortnight
To foster awareness about eye donation among children, PGIMER Chandigarh, in collaboration with Lions Club Chandigarh Central, organized a poster-making competition for students of classes 7 to 10 at Manav Mangal Smart School, Mohali. The event is part of the ongoing Eye Donation Awareness Fortnight celebrations at PGIMER, aimed at encouraging the younger generation to spread the vital message of eye donation.
Addressing the young participants, Dr. Parul Chawla Gupta, Associate Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, PGIMER, highlighted the importance of reaching out to the younger generation. She stated, “Creating awareness about eye donation among children is pivotal as they are not just learners but also messengers who can influence their families and communities. Their active involvement in such events helps shape a more empathetic and informed society that values the noble cause of eye donation.”
Lion Satish Bhasker, Project Chairperson, Lions Club Chandigarh Central also emphasized the significance of the ongoing Eye Donation Awareness Fortnight. He remarked, “Eye Donation Awareness Fortnight at PGIMER is a critical initiative to educate the public and debunk myths surrounding eye donation. Engaging young minds through creative activities like poster-making fosters a deeper understanding of this noble act and empowers them to advocate for eye donation, furthering our mission to restore sight and improve lives.”
