*PGIMER Celebrates World Meditation Day *
As per the Institute rule: Close on the heels of the UN General assembly announcing 21st Dec as World meditation day, on the first year of its announcement, CCRYN Yoga Centre at PGIMER took up the initiative to spread public awareness about the value of meditation among HCWs.
The Centre organized meditation sessions at both NINE Auditorium (9.45am) and Yoga Centre (6 pm) with the enthusiastic participation of Faculty, staff and students of the Institute. More than 150 participants received meditation training. Dr. Sukhpal Kaur, Principal, NINE welcomed the Yoga Centre team (including Dr Pramod) at NINE and thanked Dr. Akshay Anand, Prof. In-Charge, Yoga Centre for pioneering the Science and service at Yoga Centre. Dr Akshay on his part thanked CCRYN, Delhi for supporting the preventive health related research and services at PGI.
He also briefed about the theory and practice of Meditation and its health and social benefits. “Meditation helps to become resilient and peaceful” he added assuring that this would be celebrated on each winter solstice Dec 21, in conjunction with June 21, the summer solstice, namely the International Day of Yoga.
Dr. Monika Gautam, the research officer at Yoga Centre conducted a session of Nadanusandhan Meditation with breath awareness at NINE and MSRT at Yoga Centre.
The sessions lasted for 20 mins and 30 minutes respectively. She informed of therapy services being available on all 7 days and that there about 20 research projects and MD thesis are being conducted besides the growing no of patient referrals who are benefiting from Yoga and meditation.
Most of these activities will be deliberated on Feb 22, the day when a national yoga and meditation workshop will be organised .
