Chandigarh, Sept 17 – In a major catch, Haryana Police have arrested a murder convict carrying a reward of Rs 25,000, who had jumped the parole in year 2007 from Sonipat district.
Giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that arrested accused was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in a murder case in 2006 and was released on a 4-week parole from Sonipat jail in 2007, but he did not return to the jail and went underground. Since then, he has kept hiding in Delhi area to avoid arrest. Court had also declared him proclaimed offender in 2010. Police had announced a bounty of Rs25,000 on his arrest.
Arrested accused was identified as Ramchander alias R.C. of district Sonipat presently residing in Rohini, Delhi. He was nabbed by a police team after getting a tip-off about his presence at a location in the district. He was produced before the court which sent him judicial custody.
It is worthwhile to mention here today that following the directives of DGP Haryana, Sh. Manoj Yadava, Haryana Police have launched a campaign to nab most-wanted and notorious criminals across the state.
