Chandigarh: In view of the popular support from the traders of Haryana for the Bandh call given for today by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), the Leader of the Opposition, Abhay Singh Chautala demanded the resignation of the Maohar Lal Khattar. He said that the BJP Government had lost its moral right to govern since the Bandh call was given in protest of the inability of the BJP government to complete the SYL and Dadupur Nalvi canal, failure to implement the Swaminathan Commission report’s recommendations, rising prices of petrol and diesel, the ill-conceived drafting and implementation of GST and general failure in maintaining law and order in the State and other allied issues, the success of the Bandh was a vote of no-confidence in the Government.
The Leader of the Opposition also expressed his and his party’s gratitude to the traders for making it a clarion call for all sections to come together in opposition to the anti-people policies of the government. He thanked the people of the State for extending help in organizing the Bandh and maintaining peace. He also congratulated the media for its fair reporting and accurate appreciation of the day long happenings.
He also announced that when voted to power, the INLD will constitute a traders’ Commission to address the issues of the trade related problems. The members of this Commission will be appointed from among the traders on their recommendations.
Abhay Singh Chautala also added that on 25 September 8, 2018 during the celebration of the 105th Birth Anniversary of Chaudhary Devi Lal, the next step for securing Haryana’s share from the waters through the SYL canal, would be announced. He reiterated the determination of the INLD to secure justice for Haryana in this regard. He also promised that if the BJP government succeeded in getting Haryana’s share of river waters from SYL canal, the INLD will not hesitate from giving all the credit to it.
He also announced that an adjournment motion regarding the non-completion of SYL canal, abandonment of Dadupur Nalvi canal and indifference to the needs of the Mewat farmers would be brought in the current Vidhan Sabha session.
In a related development that is indicative of the rot in the governance of the State, ‘Gramin Safai Karamchari Union Haryana’ sought the support of the Leader of the Opposition and his party for the demands of the Union. Its main demand is concerning the inadequate honorarium and direct payment to the employees. It has also announced its intention to march towards the Haryana Vidhan Sabha on 9th and 10th September 2018 in support of its demands. Abhay Singh Chautala assured the Union of all democratic support for their just cause.
The senior INLD leader was also approached by the Chartered Association of Physiotherapist, Haryana requesting support for their demand for an independent state council for physiotherapists in Haryana. They demanded that since the WHO has recognized them as a separate professional group, therefore, there was need for an independent Council to address its issues.
