Chandigarh, September 9:- Sh. Davesh Moudgil, Mayor of Chandigarh today designated Sh. Shakti Parkash Devshali, area councilor of ward No.20 as 1st “Swachhata Doot” for campaigning in his ward regarding “Chandigarh Banega Swachhata me No.1”.
The Mayor was addressing the office bearers of RWAs, MWAs, social and religious organizations alongwith NGOs at “Swachh Ward Campaign” organized at community Centre, Sector 29-B, here today.
While addressing the stakeholders, the Mayor said that Municipal Corporation Chandigarh put its 100 percent to make the Chandigarh No.1 in ensuing Swachh Survekshan-2019 and star rating of garbage free city. He stressed the need of full public participation in this campaign to achieve this milestone.
The Mayor said that the area councilors of different 26 wards will be designated as “Swachhata Doot” to lead this campaign in their respective areas. He said that regular awareness campaigns will be organized under the leadership of area councilors including Prabhat Pheris, Jansabhas, meetings during religious and social functions, nukkar natakas and other parameters of awareness campaign.
Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation said that citizens will have to follow the slogan “Hamara Shahar hi hai Hamara Ghar” to make the Swachhata campaign 100 percent successful. He said that the citizen should start swachhta campaign from their households and MCC will provide them all kind of infrastructure, facilities and assistance required in every front.
During the campaign, the stakeholders were sensitized about swachh sarvekshan-2019, star rating of garbage free city, segregation of waste at source level and downloading Swachhata MoHUA app. The stakeholders were sensitized about segregation of dry & wet waste and hazardous waste separately at their source level so as to segregated collection of waste and easy processing of MSW.
They were asked to involve in “Chandigarh banega Swachhata me No.1” campaign and download Swachhata app for early disposal of sanitation related complaints. The stakeholders were asked to give their valuable feedback on “Swachh Manch” and not to use plastic bags and one time usable plastic items.
They were asked to reduce, reuse and recycle the waste produced from their households, shops and institutes etc. People were appealed to adopt onsite composting techniques at source level to reduce the MSW. Bulk generators have been asked to make their own composting sites to process their waste at source level.
