Dialogue is the only possible solution to all problems : Dr. Manmohan Singh
Chandigarh : A special program was organized by Vishva Samvad Kendra (VSK), Punjab, on the occasion of Maharishi Narad Jayanti Utsav. The event took place at the auditorium of Rajiv Gandhi College Bhawan, Panjab University.
Dr. Manmohan Singh, former IPS officer and President of the Chandigarh Sahitya Academy, addressed the audience as the chief guest and said that Maharishi Narad is considered the deity of knowledge and prosperity, who used to travel across the three worlds with his vision. Emphasizing the need for dialogue in the current global context, he said, “Today’s world is struggling with the effects of war, and dialogue is the only possible solution to all problems. The journeys (Udaasis) of Guru Nanak Dev Ji are the finest examples of this.”
Dr. Singh further stated that we are currently living in the era of the information and artificial intelligence (AI) revolution. “The one who has more technology is more powerful. We now need to learn how to live with narratives and make the right choices.”
As the main speaker, Shri Pradeep Joshi, Akhil Bhartiya Sah Prachar Pramukh, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), said, “Maharishi Narad was the first journalist of the universe, who saw information as a carrier of social welfare and prosperity.” Speaking on the topic ‘Idea of Bharat,’ he said that India has never invaded any country. “Our culture has been based on peace and dialogue, which is visible in our political, economic, and religious traditions.”
He referred to the recent G-20 Summit’s motto, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – One Earth, One Family, One Future’, as a symbol of Indian culture. Referring to the recent list of Padma awardees, he said that it reflects a glimpse of decolonization.
Distinguished guests included Prof. Dr. Sanjay Kaushik, Dean of Panjab University, and Prof. Yojana Rawat, Dean of University Instruction. Vibhag Karyawah Deepak Batra extended gratitude to all attendees.
On this occasion, Virendra Rawat from Dainik Jagran, Neha Sharma from PTI, Sai Vaidyanathan from The Tribune, Cartoonist Sandeep Joshi and Vikramjeet Singh Mann from Ajit were honoured with Maharishi Narad Awards for their outstanding contribution in the field of journalism.
