“Government, will provide financial services through India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) to uncovered population of India”- Anil Kumar
Chief Postmaster General, Punjab Circle, Chandigarh while addressing the press conference, told that Hon’ble Prime Minister will inaugurate IPPB on 01, September, 2018 at Talkatora stadium at New Delhi.
Further informed that by launching IPPB Services will be served to a common man through reliable Postman at door step . In any way this service will reach to a Common man and to those who remain uncovered for any financial services.
He also informed that the incorporation of the IPPB Ltd is a significant step forward as this also paved the way for the IPPB to hire banking professionals to set up the bank. The Department of Posts has set up a total of 22 IPPB branches in Punjab in addition to 1 IPPB branch in UT Chandigarh. The aspiration for the India Post Payments Bank is to become the most accessible bank in the world riding on state of the art banking and payments technology. Coupled with the physical presence across 1.55 lakh post offices PAN India and the reach of “The Dakiya”, the India Post Payments Bank aims at becoming a powerful and effective vehicle of real financial inclusion in the country and banking service centres will increase from 1.40 lakh to 2.90 Lakh. It will poised to create a national payments architecture riding on a modern payments platform and ubiquitous information and communication technologies that can be accessed by all users and service providers like never before. The stakeholders of the India Post Payments Bank within the Government and outside are looking at this new entity as a catalyst to social and financial inclusion.
INDIA POST PAYMENTS BANK initially on its launch will provide services to the customers in Punjab & UT Chandigarh through 23 IPPB branches and 115 offices of Department of Posts in the state.
It will be one stop financial service provider reaching out to the unbanked & the under-banked and extending the financial services offerings which include services like Savings account, Current accounts, In-store payments, Bill Payments, Doorstep services etc through Branch premises, assisted agents and mobile/internet banking.
