Chandigarh, 23 December – President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, Kumari Selja said that today, Farmers’ Day is being celebrated across the country, but the BJP government has created such a situation that the farmers are on the streets in this fierce cold amid the Corona epidemic. The farmers are constantly sacrificing their lives in the farmers’ movement, but the BJP government has deliberately turned blind, dumb and deaf on this movement for the sake of few capitalists and has become dictator. Stopping farmers from paying tribute to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh at Kisan Ghat and registering case of attempt to murder and under other sections on farmers for showing black flags to Chief Minister Manohar Lal reflects the anti-farmer mindset of the BJP government at the Center and in the state.
In a statement issued here today Kumari Selja said that the BJP government is constantly trying to crush the democracy. Stopping the farmers, who were going to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh at Delhi’s Kisan Ghat on the occasion of his birth anniversary, exposes the dictatorship of the present government. Chaudhary Charan Singh was the messiah of the farmers. Stopping them from paying tribute to former Prime Minister is an insult of the farmers of the whole country. For this, the BJP should apologize to all the farmers of the country, she added.
Kumari Selja said that the BJP government of Haryana was crossing all the limits of vandalism in connection with the registration of cases against the farmers, who showed black flags to the Chief Minister Manohar Lal. Filing of case of attempt to murder and under other sections against farmers shows the government’s desperation. She said that in a democracy, everyone has the right to speak, but when the voice of the people is suppressed, the trust of the people is lost, then people are forced to come to the streets for their rights. The voice of farmers is being continuously suppressed by the BJP government. The trust of the Haryana’s people has been completely lost in this government. This is the reason why black flags were shown by the farmers to Chief Minister Manohar Lal and in fury, the government has filed case of attempt to murder against the farmers.
Kumari Selja said that earlier also, the BJP government of Haryana has taken oppressive action against the farmers. She asked, “After showing black flags to Chief Minister Manohar Lal, how it became a matter of attempt to murder”? She said that it is highly condemnable to file case against the farmers. The government should immediately withdraw the case lodged against the farmers, she added.
