JOINT RAID at Chemist Shops BY Drugs Control Wing, Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 30th September 2024: In an ongoing effort to curb the circulation of habit-forming drugs in the market, the Drugs Control Wing, U.T. Administration, conducted a joint raid on chemist shops in Sector 27, Bus Stand Manimajra, and Pipliwala Town, Manimajra. The raid was led by Drugs Inspectors Mr. Tajinder Singh and Mr. Amit Lakhanpal.

During the inspection, three firms were thoroughly examined, with a focus on the records of various habit-forming drugs, including Etizolam, Tapentadol, and Pregabalin (300 mg/150 mg). All three firms failed to provide proper purchase and sale records for these controlled substances.

Additionally, it was discovered that two of the firms were operating without the presence of qualified pharmacists, with drug sales being conducted in their absence. The chemist shop at Bus Stand Manimajra was found stocking MTP kits, intoxicating drugs, and physician samples, without maintaining the required purchase and sale records for these drugs.

As a result of these violations, show-cause notices have been issued to the firms under the provisions of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940. Strict action will be taken against the violators.
