International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024
On the occasion of International Women’s Day (IWD), 2024, the Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration is organising a series of events in collaboration with the line Departments across U.T., Chandigarh, in order to acknowledge the work undertaken by various units/departments and encourage them for ensuring women empowerment & gender equality. The said activities are conducted under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
This collaborative initiative between the Department of Social Welfare and DAV College aimed to foster awareness and appreciation for the remarkable contributions of women. The celebration serves as a beacon for promoting gender equality, encouraging dialogue and inspiring collective efforts for a brighter, more inclusive future. To commemorate International Women’s Day celebrations at DAV College, the event filled with cultural fervour, showcased the talents and strength of women, underlining their vital role in society.
Ms. Kamal Sisodia, Commandant of CRPF 13 Battalion, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Her presence added a profound dimension to the celebration as she spotlighted the courageous abilities of women, emphasizing their pivotal role in shaping the destiny of our country. Ms. Kamal promoted “Nari Shakti” encouraging a collective commitment towards creating an environment where women thrive and contribute significantly to the progress of society. Dr. Palika Arora, Director Social Welfare and Sh. Naveen, Joint Director Social Welfare cum SDM (South) were also present during the occasion. Dr. Palika Arora delivered a compelling message on women empowerment emphasizing the importance of acknowledging and nurturing the potential of women encouraged everyone to contribute towards creating an inclusive and empowering society.
Students took center stage, captivating the audience with diverse cultural activities that highlighted the rich tapestry of talent among women. The performances served as a testament to the creativity, resilience, and dynamism that women bring to every sphere of life.
