International Women’s Cancer Conference-2023”
The first day of “International Women’s Cancer Conference-2023” organized by Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) began with welcome address by Dr. Gaurav Prakash, the organizing secretary of the conference. More than 200 doctors and 100 nurses from Chandigarh and neighbouring states came to attend this conference. Professor Vivek Lal, director PGIMER addressed the gathering and appreciated the collaboration with ASCO and assured to utilize this association for the best possible care of cancer patients. Prof. Onyinye Balogun, radiation oncologist from ASCO gave the oversight of women’s cancer over the world and emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary cancer clinic. Dr. Rupinder Sekhon, president Association of Gynecologic Oncologists of India (AGOI), emphasized the importance and limitations of screening women for different cancers in India. Prof. Vanita Suri, Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Organising Chairperson, highlighted the importance of multidisciplinary cancer care. The conference was attended by renowned International faculty from ASCO, Dr. Mary McCormack and Dr. Charles Dunton. Various deliberations discussed about evidence based best practices in breast cancer. Young researchers presented their research through e-posters. Preliminary round of Quiz witnessed enthusiastic participation from 14 teams representing nine medical colleges. Overall the day was an academic feast in itself.
