Honourable Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria graces GGDSD College Cultural Fest

Friday, 21/3/2025: The Annual Cultural Festival, ‘Virasat -25’, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Chandigarh was graced by, the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Union Territory Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, as the Chief Guest today. He was joined by V.P. Singh, I.A.S, Principal Secretary to the Governor. Prof. (Dr.) Anirudh Joshi, General Secretary, GGDSD College Society; Shri Jitender Bhatia, Finance Secretary, GGDSD College Society; Shri P.K. Bajaj, Secretary, GGDSD College Society; and Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal, GGDSD college also graced the occasion.
Prof. (Dr.) Anirudh Joshi, General Secretary, GGDSD College Society, highlighted the remarkable progress GGDSD College has made over the years and expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of Honourable Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria in serving and uplifting the region, particularly appreciating his initiative to combat drug abuse, as highlighted in his recent call for people to join the walk against drugs. He added that the Governor’s esteemed presence at Virasat-2025 was a true honour for the institution.

Hon’ble Governor expressed appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the GGDSD college annual fest featuring Satinder Sartaj, an exemplary figure and dedicated ambassador for the anti-drug movement. Shri Kataria emphasized that students need to be guided against substance abuse and follow the right path, which was seen as a crucial step in changing the nation’s destiny
The college campus was thronged by a large crowd of over ten thousand adoring fans, to experience the live performance of the legendary Sufi singer, Dr. Satinder Sartaaj. Amid thunderous applause, Dr. Sartaaj’s magical voice mesmerized the gathering to the rhythm of his soulful melodies and iconic hits, including “Sai Ve”, “Masoomiyat”, “Heeriye Faqeeriye”, “Titli”, and “Sajjan Raazi” making an evening truly unforgettable. He not only enthralled the audience with his soulful voice but also by playing a myriad of instruments including the chimta and dafli, adding a unique charm to his performance.
Dr. Satinder Sartaaj, addressing Honourable Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria on stage, stated, “I am doing my best to fulfil the role entrusted to me in the anti-drug campaign, and through my concerts, I am spreading the message.” As the brand ambassador for Punjab’s anti-drug campaign, he emphasized his commitment to raising awareness and inspiring positive change. Dr. Sartaaj appreciated the warm hospitality and strong cultural values of GGDSD College, which is one of the foremost educational institutions in the region.
The event featured an array of performances in the morning, including singer AC Bhardwaj’s enthralling performances, which left the audience spellbound. Students confidently showcased their talents, strutting down the catwalk with poise, curves, and moves, as they competed for the prestigious titles of Miss and Mr Virasat. Ms. Mishthi was crowned as Miss Virasat, while Mr. Arpit took home the title of Mr. Virasat. Ms. Shreya and Mr. Nikhil bagged the title of Rang-e-Virasat. Ms. Bhagwan Kaur and Mr. Arnav Sharma were declared Noor-e-Ehsaas.
