Police intervened handful of Parents gathered to collect donation

Chandigarh, March 30

Embarrassing moments witnessed when a handful of parents gathered outside Shishu Niketan School, Sector 22, to collect funds for teachers’ salary. However, they faced teachers’ ire as they claimed to get paid full salaries. Heated arguments took place between teachers and parents as the former complained that parents were protesting in order to harass the authorities without knowing the facts. “We are getting full salaries, however in order to harass us and the management these few parents are involving our name. If they wanted to collect funds, they should collect it on the name of fee but not after involving us. They failed to pay the fee of their own kids and still we are teaching them, supporting them. However, in return, they are playing dirty politics by taking our name,” said Harpreet Walia, a school teacher. Another teacher added, “The school is charging only tuition fee, which is in few thousands since last year. From the strength of 4,000 above students. Only two parents are creating ruckus. For one year, they didn’t let their children appear in examinations and moreover threatened us with courts’ order. I just wanted to ask, which court has given them the permission to collect funds by saying that teachers’ don’t get paid. We are working day and night for the welfare of students, but this is what we are facing from their parents,” Pavna, another teacher.

“We are ready to donate, if the parents need the money. We have contributed for the needy students. But parents spreading lies about us for getting media’s attention is in no way acceptable. We have already lodged a complaint against them. They have the right to ask donations for collecting their wards’ fee but how can they drag our names without knowing the facts,” Ruchi, another teacher.
