Haryana state doctors trainedin diagnosis of serious blood diseases under the National Health Mission at PGI Chandigarh
The fifth National Health Mission – PGIMER Capacity BuildingWorkshop on Hemoglobinopathies and Hemophilia is underway at the Department ofHematology at PGI, Chandigarh from the 10thto 13thofMarch. Over 40 specialist doctors (including pathologists, pediatricians,gynecologists, transfusion medicine specialists and district nodal officers)are undergoing intensive training in the laboratory diagnosis and treatment oflife-threatening blood diseases like thalassemia, sickle cell anemia,hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. They have come from virtually all theimportant cities of Haryana, including Rohtak, Gurugram, Ambala, Bhiwani,Faridabad, Hisar, Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Jind, Sirsa, Panipat, and Karnal,among others. Training includes detailed lectures by experts from hematology,pediatrics and transfusion medicine departments, discussion of real-life cases andsituations, as well as visits to hospital areas catering to the care of thesepatients.These inherited disorders are common among several communities invarious parts of India, and their timely and correct diagnosis can prevent thebirth of affected children as well as improve the quality of life and preventcomplications in those who are affected. Their care, often neglected in thepast, has been designated a priority by the N.H.M. as timely interventions canactually result in cost-effective preventive approaches, rather than investingin expensive remedial measures when the diseases reach an advanced stage.Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Cherry Gupta, Joint Director, HaryanaState Blood Transfusion Council, reiterated the state government’s resolve tostrengthen the healthcare delivery system for serious genetic disorders. Thisis being achieved through the education of healthcare professionals as well aslay public for the screening of pregnant women and other target populations,setting up of day care centres and providing advanced facilities including referralfor prenatal diagnosis and stem cell transplantation in collaboration withcentres of excellence.Dr. Reena Das, Professor and Head of Hematology Department atPGIMER, said that while advanced centres like PGIMER had been continuallyproviding care to referred patients for the last three and a half decades, thesheer burden of these diseases meant that more centres were needed. In thisregard, it was heartening to work with the National Health Mission by trainingdoctors from J&K, Uttarakhand, UT Chandigarh and now, in the fifth editionof the workshop, from a fresh batch from Haryana to deliver services to patientswithout making them travel long distances.

राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य मिशन के तहत हरियाणा राज्य के डॉक्टरोंको पीजीआई चंडीगढ़ में गंभीर रक्त विकारों के निदान का प्रशिक्षण
पी.जी.आई. चंडीगढ़ के रक्त विज्ञान विभाग में पांचवीं राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्यमिशन प्रायोजित”हीमोग्लोबिन पैथी और हीमोफीलिया” पर क्षमता-निर्माणकार्यशाला,10 से 13 मार्च तक आयोजित की जारही है।इस कार्यशाला में हरियाणा के विभिन्न जिलों से आए 40 से अधिक विशेषज्ञ डॉक्टर (पैथोलॉजिस्ट, बाल रोग विशेषज्ञ, स्त्री रोगविशेषज्ञ, ट्रांसफ्यूजन मेडिसिनविशेषज्ञ और जिला नोडल अधिकारी) शामिल हैं, जिन्हें थैलेसीमिया, सिकल सेल एनीमिया, हीमोफीलिया औरअन्य रक्तस्राव संबंधी विकारों जैसे गंभीर रक्त रोगों के प्रयोगशाला निदान औरउपचार का गहन प्रशिक्षण दिया जा रहा है। प्रतिभागी डॉक्टर रोहतक, गुरुग्राम, अंबाला, भिवानी, फरीदाबाद, हिसार, पंचकूला, यमुनानगर, जींद, सिरसा, पानीपत और करनालसहित हरियाणा के प्रमुख शहरों से आए हैं।
प्रशिक्षण में रक्त विज्ञान, बाल रोग और ट्रांसफ्यूजन मेडिसिन विभाग के विशेषज्ञोंद्वारा विस्तृत व्याख्यान, वास्तविक मामलोंपर चर्चा, और ऐसे रोगियों की देखभालसे संबंधित अस्पताल विभाग/क्षेत्रों कादौरा शामिल है।ये आनुवांशिक विकार भारत के कई समुदायों में आम हैं, और इनका समय पर एवं सही निदान न केवल प्रभावित बच्चों केजन्म को रोक सकता है बल्कि रोग से पीड़ित व्यक्तियों के जीवन की गुणवत्ता मेंसुधार कर सकता है और संभावित जटिलताओं से बचा सकता है। इन रोगों की देखभाल, जिसे पहले उपेक्षित किया जाता था, अब राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य मिशन (N.H.M.) द्वारा प्राथमिकता के रूप में चिह्नित की गई है, क्योंकि समय पर किए गए हस्तक्षेप, महंगे उपचारात्मक उपायों की तुलना में अधिक किफायती औरप्रभावी रोकथाम प्रदान कर सकते हैं।इस अवसर पर डॉ. चेरी गुप्ता, संयुक्त निदेशक, हरियाणा राज्य रक्त संक्रमण परिषद, ने गंभीर आनुवंशिक विकारों के लिए स्वास्थ्य सेवा वितरणप्रणाली को मजबूत करने की राज्य सरकार की प्रतिबद्धता को दोहराया। उन्होंने बतायाकि स्वास्थ्य पेशेवरों और आम जनता को शिक्षित करके, गर्भवती महिलाओं और लक्षित आबादी की स्क्रीनिंग सुनिश्चितकरके, डे केयर केंद्रों कीस्थापना के साथ-साथ उन्नत सुविधाएं उपलब्ध कराकर, जैसे कि प्रसवपूर्व निदान और स्टेम सेल प्रत्यारोपण की सुविधाप्रदान कर, सरकार उन्नत चिकित्साकेंद्रों के सहयोग से इस दिशा में काम कर रही है।डॉ. रीना दास, प्रोफेसर एवंप्रमुख, रक्त विज्ञान विभाग, पीजीआईएमईआर, ने कहा कि उन्नतचिकित्सा केंद्रों जैसे कि पीजीआईएमईआर पिछले साढ़े तीन दशकों से संदर्भित रोगियोंकी देखभाल कर रहा है, लेकिन इन रोगोंका अत्यधिक बोझ इस बात का संकेत देता है कि अधिक केंद्रों की आवश्यकता है। इसीसंदर्भ में, राष्ट्रीयस्वास्थ्य मिशन के साथ सहयोग करके जम्मू-कश्मीर, उत्तराखंड, केंद्र शासितप्रदेश चंडीगढ़ और अब पांचवें संस्करण में हरियाणा के डॉक्टरों को प्रशिक्षित करनाएक उत्साहजनक कदम है, जिससे रोगियों कोलंबी दूरी की यात्रा किए बिना सेवाएं मिल सकेंगी।
