Haryana Police has decided to give an enhanced compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the next-of-kin of those personnel of Haryana’s Special Task Force

Chandigarh, August 1 – Haryana Police has decided to give an enhanced compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the next-of-kin of those personnel of Haryana’s Special Task Force (STF) who will lose their lives in the line of duty. Besides this, the wards of Haryana police cop who will die in any riots/action will also get school fee reimbursement of Rs one lakh per annum upto four years subject to a maximum limit of Rs four lakh.
These and other welfare decisions were the outcomes of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Haryana Police and HDFC Bank Limited in the presence of Director General HQ Mr K.K. Mishra at Panchkula today.
While Director General HQ Mr K.K. Mishra signed the MoU on behalf of Haryana Police, it was signed by Branch Banking Head, Mr Vineet Arora on behalf of HDFC Bank.
Speaking on this occasion, DG HQ Mr K.K. Mishra said that as part of the agreement inked with the bank, the police personnel who suffer permanent disability would be given Rs 30 lakh compensation and those who bear partial disability would get Rs five lakh. This facility has been introduced for the first time by the bank for the welfare of the injured cops.
Similarly, the insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh being given to the next-of-kin of cops on their natural death has also been enhanced to Rs2.5 lakh. The condition of card swipe to make eligible the deceased employee for getting accidental death insurance cover of Rs30 lakh has also been removed. Now as per modified MoU, all cops would get Rs 30 lakh in case of an accidental death and Rs2.5 lakh in case of natural death. The bank also providing various free services such as zero balance bank account, free ATM withdrawal, balance enquiry and issuance of demand draft.
Mr Mishra said that keeping in view the arduous nature of duty; senior officers of Haryana Police have been frequently taking important decisions from time to time for the welfare of police personnel. Now after the revision of facilities being provided under the agreement would build a sense of security among police personnel.
He said that MoU between the Haryana Police and HDFC Bank Limited had been signed in August 2015 for the payment of salaries to employees through the bank.
On this occasion, representatives of the bank apprised that out of the 301 claims of natural and accidental death received so far, 254 claims to the tune of Rs21.20 crore have already been settled. The remaining are under the process of settlement.
Others present on this occasion included Circle Head, Mr Lalit Batra, Zonal Head, Mr Manish Manglesh, Cluster Head Mr Vivek Doda, Principal Nodal Officer, Mr Rajiv Mehra and Nodal Officer of Bank Mr Alok Wadhwa.
