Governor Punjab asks Rotarians to imitate project for senior citizens

Chandigarh:   V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh, asked the Rotarians to continue their support to solve various issues that face the city today.

Addressing the Rotary Club of Chandigarh at the installation of the new team of 2018-19 under the leadership of Rtn Amrit Pal Singh, at CII here today, Shri Badnore complimented the Rotarians for undertaking Rs.40 lakh project of renovating the cremation ground toilets and committing to maintain the same for five years.

He suggested that Rotarians must develop project for senior citizens to give “end of life” care because of the growing population of seniors in the city.

He also suggested to Rotary to devolp projects for villages n the periphery of Chandigarh which have numerous problems, and offered to  work with Rotarians.

Earlier the outgoing club leader Rtn Piara Singh Matharoo presented an audiovisual report of the service projects undertaken by the Club in the Community, especially empowering children and women in Saketri village, running WaSH programme in the government schools of Chandigarh, and promoting literacy in the pockets of neglect.

Rtn AP Singh informed that very soon the Club would be setting up a Rotary Health Education Centre with the collaboration of the Chandigarh Administration.

The outgoing President Piara Singh Matharoo presented the Collar of Club President to the incoming leader, Amrit Pal Singh.

Rotary Club of Chandigarh is celebrating 60 years of its existence in the city having been chartered on 10th May 1958, and plans to initiate more projects under this programme.
