Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh Sh Gulab Chand Kataria paid homage to Shri Guru Ravidas Ji on his 648th Prakash Utsav.

Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh Shri Gulab Chand Kataria ji paid homage to Sant Shri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj on his 648th Prakash Utsav by bowing down at Shri Guru Ravidas Gurdwara Sector 30A, Chandigarh.
In his address, Hon’ble Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria ji said that the life of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji is a unique example of equality, devotion and social harmony. He fought against casteism and discrimination and showed the path of love, unity and service to the society.
The Governor said, “Shri Guru Ravidas Ji was not only a great saint but also a social reformer, poet and spiritual guru. He gave a new direction to the Bhakti movement with his teachings and awakened consciousness against casteism and untouchability in the society. His message is as relevant today as it was in the 15th century.”
He said that Guru Ravidas Ji made people aware through his couplets and teachings and told them that there is no religion greater than devotion to God and service to humanity.”
The Hon’ble Governor, while referring to the famous couplet of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji, said –
“Jaat-Paat Puchhe Nahi Koi, Hari Ko Bhaje So Hari Ka Hoi.”
He said that this message of Guru Ravidas Ji teaches us that there is no difference of caste and class in the devotion of God. He gave the message of giving priority to devotion and humanity by rising above caste and social divisions, which is equally important in today’s society.
The Hon’ble Governor said that “Guru Ravidas Ji taught us that the progress of society is possible only when there is a feeling of equality and brotherhood in it. His teachings inspire us even today to create a harmonious and egalitarian society, where there is no discrimination.”
He said that “Various public welfare schemes being implemented in the country are being made available equally to all sections. The mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’ has today become a symbol of connecting 140 crore countrymen. This message inspires us to move forward unitedly and adopt new directions of harmony, equality and development in the society.”
On this occasion, Deputy Mayor Mrs. Tarun Mehta, senior BJP leader Mr. Arun Sood, Sabha President Mr. O.P. Chopra were also present.
