EYE DONATION AWARENESS PROGRAMME HELD BY HEALTH DEPARTMENT, UT, CHANDIGARH
The 39th National Eye Donation fortnight is being observed throughout the country from 25th August to 8th September with an aim of creating awareness about Eye Donation .
In this regard an event was conducted by the Eye Department at GMSH 16 which was inaugurated by Director Health Services, Dr. Suman Singh in the presence of Senior Officers of the health department and general public .
Talks were given by the doctors wherein they educated the public and the patients on the significance of eye donation and encouraged more people to come forward as donors. Cultural events in the form of poetry recitation, Nukkad Natak (Educational play) and poster competitions by the students.
The Director Health Services, Dr. Suman Singh addressed the public and motivated people to come forward & pledge their eyes as this is a most noble act any one can ever do after their death. She also asked the department to conduct a series of events in peripheral health facilities so that more people are encouraged to pledge their eyes.
Dr. Sumeet Kalra, HOD Eye Department informed that this fortnight is dedicated to spreading awareness, encouraging action and fostering a spirit of generosity that can transform our lives and assured that more such public campaigns will be held by the department in the near future .
