Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship inaugurated India’s first in-phone guide-GoWhatsThat at Rock Garden, Chandigarh in the presence of Sh. Dan Singh Rawat, Minister of Higher Education, Govt. of Uttrakhand, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner- cum- Chairman, IRCS Chandigarh.
Sh. Sandeep Jain, State Level Coordinator (Oil Industry,  Punjab) & Chief General Manager In-charge, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Punjab, J&K , H.P. & Chandigarh) ; Sh. Sachin Sharma, Dy. General Manager (Retail Sales), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Chandigarh Divisional Office & senior officials from  Chandigarh Administration and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd were also present on this occasion.
GoWhatsThat is a creative platform which enables to view information in a hassle free way and explore the spots with multimedia content in various languages. The application will enable tourists to discover places like never before. There are 1100 tags which have been placed at different tourist spots and would give unique information about each artifact. 119 tags are already placed at Rock Garden , Chandigarh and remaining are being placed at prominent tourist locations of Chandigarh viz. Sukhna Lake, Capital Complex and Museum. Tourists can scan the QR code or use NFC to get detailed information about the history of a particular spot.  Information can be accessed in 50 languages, and is available in the form of audio, video, text and pictures.
Chandigarh is the best-planned city in India, with architecture which is world-renowned, and a quality of life, which is unparalleled. As the capital of the states of Punjab and Haryana, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh it is a prestigious city. The face of modern India, Chandigarh, is the manifestation of a dream that Le Corbusier executed.To promote tourism in ‘City Beautiful’, Chandigarh Administration envisaged the idea of having an in-phone guide and a mobile application “GoWhatsThat” was developed. The project is promoted by Indian Oil Corporation Limited and is supported by Indian Red Cross Society, Chandigarh.
The app will also help Chandigarh Administration in data analytics which can have real time updates for each place including number of tourists visiting the places, scan details etc.
During the launch function of the mobile application at Rock Garden; Sh. Sandeep Jain, Chief General Manager Incharge, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. welcomed the dignitaries and expressed his gratitude towards Chandigarh Administration for giving an opportunity to Indian Oil to associate with the project which is a unique way to connect the visitors to the places of historic values in Chandigarh.
Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship remarked that Chandigarh is a rare epitome of modernization co-existing with nature’s preservation. He stated that it is apt for India’s first planned city, “The City Beautiful” to be the city having India’s first in-phone guide. He congratulated Chandigarh Administration and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. for conceptualizing the novel idea of an in-phone guide. He also stated that technology can help in creating avenues for employment generation and skill development.
Hon’ble Minister felicitated the key persons involved in the project including Sh. Anuj Saini, S/o Late Sh. Nek Chand Saini for the contribution of his family in developing Rock Garden an eighteen-acre sculpture garden in the city of Chandigarh.
