Desh Bhagat Radio in collaboration with State Bank of India organised a Cyclothon on environment day

CHANDIGARH : On the World Environment Day, Desh Bhagat Radio, 107.8 FM (Aap Ki Awaz) Chandigarh in collaboration with State Bank of India (SBI) organised a Cyclothon “End Plastic pollution”. Regarding the event, station head RJ Sangmitra, Desh Bhagat Radio shared the information that the World Environment Day acts as a reminder to people to be more considerate and aware of the Earth’s existing condition, in terms of the environment. We all should try to create awareness among people to maintain a plastic free Environment. She also said that this cyclothon is an initiative taken every year by DB Radio 107.8 FM. The cyclothon started from SBI local head office (LHO) sector 17 to sukhna lake via Matka chowk at 6:30 am and more than 300 people had registered for it.

Dr Surjit Kaur, Media Director Desh Bhagat University and Mr Manmeet S. Chhabra, General Manager (Network-1), SBI had flagged off the cyclothon. Mrs Patheja said that this initiative by DBU has been really popular among the youth. She added that cycling is a great medium to stay fit and DBU is promoting the nation of ‘Plastic free’ through this cyclothon.

Sh Manmeet S Chhabra, SBI also congratulated the participants for taking a step towards environment conservation. He also said that such events serve as a major inspiration for youth to make fitness a habit and to spread the message of not use plastic. Desh Bhagat University’s Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur and DBU’s President Dr. Sandeep Singh said that through cyclothon, the country is promoting ‘end plastic pollution’. They added that we should plant as many trees as possible by adopting Kokodema technique like Japan.

RJ Sangmitra shared that certificates and light refreshment were also given to the participants. She added that a huge enthusiasm was shown by the participants and they shared that they had an excellent experience. On this occasion Mr Neeraj Bharti (Network-2) SBI general manager local head office chandigarh and other officials were also graced with their presence. Prof. Ajaypal Singh Shekhawat conducted the stage gracefully.
