Two research scholars Mr. Kewal Kumar and Ms. Sunita from The Department of Hindi, Panjab University will be presenting their papers at the 11th World Hindi Conference being held at Mauritius from 18th to 20th August 2018. Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Chairperson, Dept. of Hindi informed that, “The World Hindi Conference is organized by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and it is a matter of pride for us that the papers of two research scholars have been selected by a high level committee of the ministry .” He further added that it was perhaps first opportunity for the research scholars of the Department to present their papers in an international conference abroad and he is extremely thankful to the PU authorities for including the research scholars in the PU delegation going to attend the conference under the leadership of Prof. Shankarji Jha, Dean University Instruction.
He informed that, the main theme of the Conference is, ‘Hindi Vishwa Aur Bharatiy Sanskriti’ and the research scholars have prepared their papers on the same.
Dr. Singh further informed that the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India organizes the World Hindi Conference once in every three years in different parts of the world and previously the conference has been organized in Bhopal, Johannesburg, New York and several other places. The 11th World Hindi Conference being organized at Mauritius will be inaugurated jointly by Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Honourable External Affairs Minister, Government of India and Honourable Prime Minister of Mauritius Shri Pravind Kumar Jugnauth. More than 2500 delegates from India and other countries are participating in the Conference.
