Cyclothon Held To Mark World Environment Day
Chandigarh, 5th June 2025: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Non-Governmental Organisation(NGO) ‘Saathi’, in collaboration with ‘Dil Se Cycling Club’, organized a cyclothon titled ‘Pedal for a Greener Tomorrow’ . The aim of the event was to raise awareness among youth about environmental conservation and to promote cycling as a sustainable and healthy lifestyle choice.
Kudrat Khosla, President of NGO Saathi, said, “Cycling is not just a means of travel; it’s a simple and effective way to fulfill our responsibility towards the environment. It helps reduce carbon emissions and improves our health.”
She added, “On World Environment Day, we urge the youth to take part in such initiatives and bring about big change through small steps in their daily lives.”
As many as 75 cyclists of all age groups gathered at Sukhna Lake and pedaled through Chandigarh’s scenic routes till the helipad and returned back and ended the cyclothon at the Rock Garden. Through this initiative, participants spread the message of a clean, green, and healthy environment.
Following the ride, interactive sessions were held where participants were educated about the impacts of pollution, climate change, and the importance of sustainable living. Additionally, all participants were given eco-friendly gifts and refreshing beverages, encouraging them to adopt greener habits.
Verka was the official hydration partner of the cyclothon.
