Congress’ Allegations Against Election Commission Baseless, Attempt to Malign Democratic Institutions: BJP
Attacking Constitutional Institutions is a Habit of Congress – Ravi Rawat

Chandigarh, August 8 (Correspondent) — Ravi Rawat, Media In-charge of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Chandigarh, strongly rejected the recent allegations made by Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party against the Election Commission of India (ECI), calling them baseless, misleading, and politically motivated. He stated that targeting one of the most respected constitutional institutions in the country clearly shows that the Congress neither respects the democratic process nor the dignity of institutions.

Rawat emphasized that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were among the most peaceful, free, and transparent elections in the country’s history. Millions of voters exercised their franchise independently, and the neutrality of the electoral process was acknowledged not just domestically but also by international observers. Despite this, Congress, especially Rahul Gandhi, is blaming the Election Commission to cover up their electoral defeat.

He stated that this is not the first time Congress has questioned constitutional bodies. Whenever the people have rejected them through the ballot, they have either attacked EVMs or raised doubts over the Election Commission. This dangerous trend reflects Congress’ unwillingness to accept democratic verdicts and instead, tarnish the credibility of Indian institutions.

Taking a sharp dig, Rawat said, “The same Congress that imposed Emergency in 1975 and throttled democracy is today pretending to be the guardian of constitutional values. This is the party that misused institutions when in power and is now trying to defame them after losing it.”

He further added that the Election Commission is an independent, autonomous, and dignified institution — the backbone of Indian democracy. The BJP has always respected and cooperated fully with the Commission to uphold its integrity.

Ravi Rawat appealed to the public to stay alert to the Congress party’s negative politics and firmly reject any attempts to weaken democratic institutions. BJP remains fully committed to the Constitution, democracy, and the dignity of our institutions.
