Chief Guest Smt. Anuradha Chagti, CSS, Inaugurates Special Discount and Honours Spinners & Weavers of Khadi Ashram, Chandigarh
Chandigarh, 2nd October 2024: On the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Smt. Anuradha Chagti, CSS, Secretary, Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration, inaugurated a special event at the Khadi Ashram, Chandigarh, to honour the talented spinners and weavers who continue to uphold the legacy of Khadi.
In her address, Smt. Chagti highlighted the timeless significance of Khadi as a symbol of self-reliance and sustainability, while also acknowledging the efforts of the artisans who keep this tradition alive. “Khadi embodies the spirit of India’s independence movement and continues to inspire sustainable practices in today’s world. It is essential that we recognize and celebrate the dedication of our spinners and weavers, who are the backbone of this legacy,” she said.
In celebration of Gandhi Jayanti and to promote the use of eco-friendly, handmade Khadi products, the Khadi Ashram, Chandigarh, is offering a special discount of up to 20% on all its products. The discount period will run from 2nd October 2024 to 31st January 2025, giving citizens an extended opportunity to purchase and support the craftsmanship of local artisans.
The event was graced by various dignitaries, along with enthusiastic participation from Khadi supporters and the general public. Attendees were able to explore a wide range of Khadi products, including garments, home textiles, and handcrafted accessories, all produced locally.
