Hoshiarpur January 10: To create awareness on various Kind of neuro problems and their treatment options a team of doctors from Livasa Hospital Hoshiarpur addressed media person today .Present on the occasion were Dr Ridip Saikia consultant neuro surgery and Dr Neha Rai consultant neurosurgery from LIVASA Hospital Hoshiarpur.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Neha Rai said that LIVASA Hospital Hoshiarpur become center of excellence for neuro sciences since all the facilities for treatment of neuro problems like brain stroke, brain tumors, neuro trauma, minimally invasive spine surgery, non-invasive spine surgery–kyphoplasty, surgery for disk related problems, treatment of Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy and all kind of functional neurosurgery, in-house facility of CT scan, MRI and blood bank are available under one roof.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Ridip Saikia shared that, “The incidence and prevalence of brain tumors is growing rapidly in India. Every year 40,000 to 50,000 people are diagnosed with brain tumour which reduces life expectancy by 20 years. These statistics are shocking.
Some common symptoms that people experience for brain tumors are headaches (typically worst in early mornings), vomiting, seizures, weakness of one or the other part of the body, difficulty in seeing or hearing or understanding. The treatment of brain tumour consists of removal of the tumour (for reducing pressure on normal structures as early as possible, and to obtain definite biopsy of lesion for characterisation and prognostication), followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy for Malignant lesions only. Advanced technologies like neuro navigation have made it possible for the neuro surgeons to venture in areas which were, for long, considered to be unapproachable or have unacceptable levels of risk of injury. For safe conduct of these surgeries and the intensive post op care, which is half the care, it is desirable to have a dedicated neuro ICU with trained manpower and appropriate equipment which improves the results dramatically.
