On November 18, 2022, the Sanatan Dharma college Samvaad society of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector 32, Chandigarh, organised a talk and discussion on “Brain Drain: Where is the Youth heading to?” Dr. Gian Singh, a former professor at Punjabi University, delivered the keynote address. The Samvaad Club’s convener, Dr. Pardip Kumar, extended a green welcome to the guest speaker. Dr. Ajay Sharma, principal, and Dr. Madhu Sharma, registrar, of GGDSD College, graced the event. In his talk on “Brain Drain,” Dr. Gian Singh discusses the benefits and drawbacks of mass migration from Punjab to foreign countries, as well as the reasons for it. During the session, he analyzed data from his project on “Migration from Rural Punjab.” In addition, he maintained that, in the right circumstances, debate, discussion, and dialogue can lead to the resolution of many problems. Following the presentation, there was an interactive question-and-answer session.
Dr. Ajay Sharma gave the guest speaker an official vote of thanks, emphasizing the importance of creating ample opportunities and welfare in various domains such as education, employment, and so on. While praising the Samvaad Club’s efforts, he urged the club to hold more interactive dialogues in the future.
