Chandigarh, July 11 – Haryana Minister of State for Public Health Engineering, Dr. Banwari Lal, who is leading a delegation to Singapore, visited Jurong Water Reclamation Plant owned and operated by PUB (the National Water Agency), and Changi Water Reclamation Plant at Singapore today.
The PUB (National Water Agency) authorities explained the steps taken by their government towards reuse of waste water in Singapore. Used water in Singapore is carried through deep tunnels to Changi Water Reclamation Plant and after treatment; this water is supplied to industries or households.
It was informed that the Jurong Water Reclamation Plant is one of the four water reclamation plants in Singapore. The delegation studied the technical details of this plant and had fruitful discussions with the authorities in Singapore. The plant processes waste activated sludge and the sterilized product passes through in-tube coolers, which is further sent to the anaerobic digestion stage. The process ends with dewatering by centrifuge.

The delegation included MLA, Hisar, Dr. Kamal Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department, Mr. Rajeev Arora, Special Secretary, Ms. Pankaj Chaudhary, Engineer-in-Chief, Mr. Manpal Singh and other officers.
