MCC scraps parking contract with Arya Toll

Chandigarh, July 9:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today terminated the agreement with M/s Arya Toll Infra, Ltd. which was running the 25 paid parking lots and Multi Level Parking in city.

While sharing this development here today, Sh. Tejdeep Singh Saini, Joint Commissioner, MCC said that the contractor has failed to deposit the 5th installment of license fee amounting to Rs. 3,69,50,000/-, which was due on 19.06.2018 payable by 25.06.2018. In addition to that the contractor has not deposited the penalties imposed by the MCC from time to time on breach of terms and conditions of license agreement till date.

The MCC had served show cause notice on 4th July, 2018 as to why their license for operation and management of 25 paid parking lots and Multi level parking should not be cancelled and forfeit dues equivalent to the outstanding dues alongwith interest from the bank guarantee as per the terms and conditions of the agreement but failed to deposit the amount of installment as per notice nor any written representation/reason was submitted in this regard to the MCC.

Today as per the clause 6 of the terms and conditions of license agreement, the MCC canceled the allotment/license of operation and management of 25 paid parking sites, one Multi level parking and forfeit dues equivalent to the outstanding dues alongwith interest from the bank guarantee and in case any amount still remains due, the same shall be recovered from the contractor as per law.

The Joint Commissioner further said that the MCC has taken over the physical possession of the 25 parking sites and one Multi level parking and handed over to the concerned area Sub Divisional Engineers of MCC forthwith, on the same day, same parking rates till further orders.

The Joint Commissioner appealed to the citizens of Chandigarh, that the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has started the process of further due of course to be taken in this regard and till the engineering wing of MCC will operate and manage all the 25 parking lots. He also requested the general public to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation.
