DC Estate Office Hosts Key Event for 100-Day TB Campaign

Chandigarh, January 8, 2025:
Continuing the efforts to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) under the 100-day TB campaign, the State Tuberculosis Officer (STO), Dr Rajesh Rana, met with the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr Amandeep Singh Bhatti, at the DC Estate Office, Sector 17, Chandigarh. The event focused on enhancing TB awareness, early detection, and timely treatment in the city.

Key highlights of the event included Enhanced Screening Services- A cutting-edge AI tool enabled chest X-ray (CXR) reports within approximately 3–4 minutes, ensuring efficient on-site diagnostics. Additionally, CBNAAT testing was conducted to confirm TB cases promptly.

Community Engagement- Students from PGGC, Sector 11, performed a vibrant Nukkad Natak (street play) on TB awareness, effectively delivering messages about the importance of early detection and adherence to treatment.

Pledge Against TB- All participants, including officials, healthcare workers, and community members, took a solemn pledge to support TB elimination efforts and reduce stigma surrounding the disease.

Collaborative Efforts- Discussions between the STO, DC, and ADC emphasised the role of local administration in improving TB care accessibility and driving community participation.

The event also witnessed the presence of Dr Maneer, Nodal Officer, State TB Cell, and Ms Aakanksha Dutta, ICMR Consultant, who contributed to the planning and execution of the campaign’s activities.

The 100-day TB campaign in Chandigarh aims to reach high-risk populations, increase diagnostic capacities, and foster community-led initiatives to eradicate TB. Dr Rajesh Rana emphasised on the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration to make Chandigarh a TB-free city.

This milestone event marked another significant step forward in the fight against tuberculosis, demonstrating the power of collective efforts and innovative approaches to public health challenges.
