One-day workshop on POCSO Act held for school principals of UT Chandigarh at Regional Institute of English, Sector 32
The Regional Institute of English, Sector 32, Chandigarh in consonance with NEP 2020 guidelines organized a one-day workshop on “POCSO Act: Safeguard Childhood – Understanding and Implementing POCSO” on 17th December 2024 for school principals of UT Chandigarh in collaboration with Department of School Education Chandigarh.
Dr. Vandana Lunyal, Director, Regional Institute of English, welcomed the resource persons and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in ensuring a safe environment for children. Mr. Surendra Kumar, Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, UT Chandigarh, provided a detailed overview of the POCSO Act, supported by real-life case studies. Mr. Rahul Singh, gave presentation regarding strategies to identify abuse, prevent sexual exploitation, and offer timely support to victims.
The workshop aimed at raising awareness about child protection laws and equipping educators with strategies to safeguard children from abuse. The workshop witnessed active participation from over 56 school principals and heads. The participants received participation certificates at the conclusion of the workshop.
