Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal inaugurates General Pool Residential Accommodation in Chandigarh


General Pool Residential Accommodation Complex, Pocket-C Jankipuram, Lucknow inaugurated through Virtual Mode from Chandigarh

The Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs and Power Shri Manohar Lal today inaugurated the General Pool Residential Accommodation for officers of central government departments, situated at Sector 38-B, Chandigarh. This project is expected to meet the high demand of Officers’ Accommodation in Chandigarh owing to presence of important Central Government Departments functioning in Chandigarh. On the occasion, the Minister also inaugurated by virtual mode the General Pool Residential Accommodation Complex, Pocket-C Jankipuram, Lucknow, which too has been constructed by CPWD.

These flats at Sector 38-B, Chandigarh have been constructed by CPWD, a pioneer Govt. Department in construction in India. GPRA at Sector 38-B has been designed with 14 nos. This project had commenced in July 2021 ,with Construction  cost of Rs.43.22 Cr and was completed in April 2024. The Total plinth Area i/c Basement is :11696.00 Sqm.

 

Type-VI and 28 nos. Type-IV residences. 02 nos. Type-VI blocks are G+2 & G+3 structures and remaining 02 nos. Type-IV blocks are G+2 & G+3 structures. A single level basement has been integrated with all the blocks for providing parking facility to the residents. These residences have been carefully designed with modern facilities for the occupants.

The Type-VI quarter is equipped with one living room, dining room, kitchen with utility balcony, total four bedrooms out of which three bedrooms have attached bathrooms, a common bathroom, store and a servant’s quarter.

Type-IV quarter has one living cum dining room, kitchen with utility balcony, total three bedrooms out of which two bedrooms have attached bathrooms, a common bathroom and a servant room, Solar water heating system installed on the terrace, Modular kitchen and PNG Gas pipeline, Rainwater harvesting pits for water recharge,13 passenger Lift for easy passage and with disable free movement. The Entire campus is connected with CC roads. There is also a Garden with separate walk way/pathway  provided for pedestrians .Firefighting and Fire Alarm systems are also provided to deal with any emergencies.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Minister said that it is very difficult for a Central Government employee to settle in one city as the service involves moving to different places upon transfers. The Government has to hence make arrangements for their stay, he added. The Minister observed that all over India, there are 2.5 lakh houses built by CPWD that have all been allotted. He said that housing is important for one and all and that having a roof over one’s head is very important for a hard-working employee to enable him or her enjoy with one’s family.

During the occasion, the Minister also visited the newly built quarters.

Special Director General, CPWD Shri Gurbax Singh said that given the many central government departments situated in Chandigarh, there is a great demand for CG accommodations. He said that today’s occasion not only marks the milestone of completion of the residential project, but also contributew to create a society of Central Government officials who can help build a social structure of togetherness and knowledge-sharing to build a nation of high values with the slogan of ‘Unity for One Nation’.”

There was also a short presentation showcasing the newly built residential complex for the Central Government.

The event was also attended by DC Chandigarh Shri Vinay Pratap Singh, employees of CPWD and other departments. The Minister also posed for a group photograph  with the entire team involved in the project. The event concluded with the vote of thanks from Shri Dashrath Singh Panwar, Superintendent Engineer , CPWD, Chandigarh.
